John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, Detroit, Michigan
Partners and Education
John D. Dingell VA Medical Center is a clinical training site to a wide range of educational programs. We even run several VA-Accredited programs, including Dental, Pharmacy, Prosthodontics, Optometry and Psychology Residencies and a Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellowship. The majority of our trainees are physicians (residents and fellows) and nurses (at every level of training). Our medical center collaborates with academic affiliates to provide the practical portion of educational training for these individuals. The Designated Education Officer is responsible for overseeing all training programs at the Detroit VA Medical Center.
The John D. Dingell VA Medical Center has several academic affiliations, both nearby in Michigan and elsewhere. All affiliate programs are accredited, in compliance with VA Policy. If you have an interest in doing the practical portion of your education at our Medical Center, please contact the Designated Education Officer to find out if your school affiliates with our medical center before you enroll.
Our primary academic affiliates are Wayne State University School of Medicine *, Wayne State University, and the Detroit Medical Center. We are also part of a national nursing initiative, VA Nursing Academy. This best practice program is a collaboration between our medical center and the University of Detroit/Mercy School of Nursing.
