They say, “It takes a village!”

But for one Detroit VA employee, all it took was a trip to Biloxi to help him carry on his adoration for the National Veterans Golden Age Games!

Ernest Moore, RN, MSN, works in Registration here at the Detroit VA. A Vietnam Era Army Veteran, he helped with last year’s 30th National Veterans Golden Age Games here in Detroit, and that prompted him to volunteer for three days in Biloxi, Mississippi for the 2017 Games!

“It was hot down there, but the best part of the Games is getting to meet and talk to all of the Veterans from around the country,” said Moore.

In 2018, the National Veterans Golden Age Games will take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, August 3 – 8, 2018.

He spoke of how many people it takes to run the Games, and what a project it is to host them.

“The Veterans who compete take such pride in their events, and winning those medals!”

Moore helped with indoor events, bingo, track and field events and on the final day, departures at the airport.

“It’s so great to see the effort these Veterans put into these Games,” said Moore. He also notes that he’s on board for next year’s games in Albuquerque, New Mexico, August 3 – 8, 2018.
